What irritates me: The way news networks do war and political campaign coverage as if it were a the pre-game show for a college football game.

What I appreciate: A gracious wife who puts up with me fuming about the things that irritate me.

What irritates me: The questioning of the doctrine of the substitutionary atonement. What is worse is that any challenge to this thinking or any Biblical response to it is called unloving and a poor witness to unbelievers. For example, click here and read as much of the comments as you can stand. Some folks talk of wanting a conversation, but it seems that they want it to be one sided.

What I appreciate: God’s Grace. I appreciate that Jesus came to this world and died in my place. Through Him, I have forgiveness and His righteousness has been made mine. For God made Him who knew no sin to become, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21.

What irritates me: People who write or speak who think that using profanity, calling names and insulting those who disagree with them and believe that it somehow makes their case.

What I appreciate: Civil discourse and conversation.

What irritates me: When people state the obvious and think they are something for having noticed it. For example, you’re favorite college football team is down by ten in the fourth quarter. They get the ball in good field position, and the TV play-by-play commentator says, “They really need to try to score here.” More irritating is that the guy gets paid to say it.

What I appreciate: Larry Munson, who has done Georgia football games all my life.

One thing about not feeling well, particularly when it involves pain, is that I get irritable. This has given me the idea this week of putting up a few post on what irritates me, but to counter balance that by mentioning some things that I genuinely appreciate as well. So, here is part one.

What irritates me: When churches use methods like this to get people in the door. Please, tell me you’re kidding.

What I appreciate: Churches that simply proclaim the Good News boldly such as this one and this one.
